Photographers:
Robert Rodriguez, Jr. - canvas prints and matted/framed...Recently named a Hudson Valley Hero by Scenic Hudson for his photography of the Hudson River, Robert Rodriguez, Jr., is an award winning professional landscape photographer specializing in landscapes of the Hudson Valley

Michael Sibilius - 44 x 65, pigment glicce prints on epson mat paper. Michael Sibilia has been practicing the art of photography for over thirty years. Living in the Hudson Valley and working as a freelance photojournalist gives him an opportunity to experience both the scenery and the diversity of the human spirit that exists all around us. “There is nothing more fulfilling to me than seeing the art in everyday places and people”.

Claudia Gorman - hand colored photographs and giclee photo prints. Claudia Gorman, “Photography is an art form that I have always enjoyed studying. Hand coloring a river photograph allows me to create an image according to my own personal perception of the river.”

Greg Martin - large format photographs, 16 x 20. Greg Martin, throughout his travels and around the Hudson Valley, captures incredible vistas by using a large format camera. This type of camera is completely mechanical and has basically the same design as cameras from the 19th century.

Brian Trevinski - photographs 11 x 14. Brian Tervenski brings to the show charming images of people using the river for commerce and enjoyment. He is a retired English teacher and just loves capturing the river and then playing with his photographs and the computer.

Linda T.Hubbard - giclee photographs 16 x 20 and 20 x 24. Linda T. Hubbard is a photographer known throughout the Hudson River Valley and beyond. A tireless promoter of the arts in the Hudson Valley, Linda is also a champion for enjoying the beauty of this river and its unique characteristics.

Painters:
Connie Fiedler - oil paintings. Connie Fiedler's contemporary landscape paintings portray her fascination with light and the seasons. Her dramatic painting style can invite a quiet calm and yet a special joy which envelop the viewer.

Virginia Donovan - Original Watercolors of the Hudson River Lighthouses. E. Virginia Palen Donovan, a life-long resident of the Hudson Valley, is intent on working to promote a public interest in the rich heritage of the area. For this show, Virginia is exhibiting for the first time in several years three original watercolors, part of her series celebrating the seven remaining lighthouses on the Hudson River.

Alexis Lynch - Pastels. Alexis Lynch’s sense of the Hudson River Valley’s beauty guides her in creating her paintings of the skies, mountain and the river. Her palette comes from nature and the softness of her recent paintings adds a dreamy quality, as if such a place could not really exist.

“Along El Camino de Santiago: A Photographic Journal” July 29 - October 27, 2009
Artist Reception Friday, August 14th 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Wells Fargo Advisors of Rhinebeck and RiverWinds Gallery of Beacon announce their new show -- Along El Camino de Santiago: A Photographic Journal, by Mary Ann Glass and Christine Irvin. The Camino is a very personal experience and the photos Mary Ann and Christine took are intimate stories of their discoveries. An artist's reception will be held at Wells Fargo on August 14th, from 5:30 - 7:30, with an artist talk by MaryAnn Glass at 6:00 p.m. The Wells Fargo office is located on the 2nd floor of Montgomery Row downtown Rhinebeck. The art may be purchased through RiverWinds Gallery, 845-838-2880.

Listed by author Patricia Schultz as among the 1000 Places to See Before You Die, El Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St James, is one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in Europe. The road begins in France and ends in Galicia, Spain, at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where tradition has it the remains of the apostle Saint James the Great are buried. It is one of only three pilgrimage routes recognized by the Catholic Church on which a plenary indulgence can be earned - the other routes are to Rome and to Jerusalem. Beginning in the Middle Ages, the route has been highly traveled. Christine and Mary Ann traveled on the last 150 kilometers, from O Cebreiro to Santiago.

The trail is not for the faint-hearted. “One evening,” Mary Ann recalls, “on the third day on the Camino, somewhere in Galicia, as Christine and I lay utterly exhausted with throbbing feet trying to recover some desire to be upright before going to dinner - she cried out, 'What are two Congregationalists from Ohio doing here!' I really didn't have an answer for her. I'm still not sure I have an answer. But I always had a vague urge to do the trail, and when Christine suggested it, I said yeah, let's do it.

“I liked the simplicity of it,” Mary Ann says. “You walked, following the yellow arrows through cow paths and fields, along roads and through hamlets, stopping for coffee at little pilgrimage refugios along the way. Walking was one's only job, one's only obligation, from around 9 until about 4 or 5 in the afternoon, with an hour break for lunch. The way was strewn with colorful wild flowers, other pilgrims, dogs, cats, cattle, and the inevitable cow dung. Before starting out, I really wanted to know what the trail itself looked like, but all the sites I googled gave little or no indication. So I photographed the trail from 3 - 8 times an hour. And my photos captured for me not only what trail looks like but also brings back for me the visceral experience of a landscape that one only gets on foot.”

For Christine, “I wanted to be somewhere where I did not know what to expect and to be enveloped by what I experienced. No preconceived ideas or goals. Just to be a part of what was there and be contemplative. Initially I did not take many photos as I wanted to stop 'framing' my views and experiences but soon realized that photography is like breathing to me.”

Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC of Rhinebeck and RiverWinds Gallery of Beacon announce their new show -- "Hudson Valley Farmland” - at the Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia) office in Rhinebeck. The show features the oils by Will Kefauver that highlight the many moods of the region. Also presenting work in the show are photographs by Greg Martin, Linda T. Hubbard and Mary Ann Glass, giclees prints by painters Peter Billman and Robert Ferrucci and original watercolors by Frederic Lere. The show runs through July 28, 2009.
An artist’s reception will be held June 5, from 5:30 – 7:30, on the 2nd floor of Montgomery Row in Wells Fargo Advisors (formerly Wachovia) offices in downtown Rhinebeck. The art may be purchased through RiverWinds Gallery, 845-838-2880. .
Will Kefauver can often be found in a field or on a hilltop — painting in oils, en plein air. His work depicts the moods of the landscapes of New York from stormy clouds over the Hudson River, to the apple trees of a Hudson Valley orchard.
He studied at Whittier College and the Katonah Arts Center and has both studied and been an instructor at the School of Visual Arts. He has returned to painting after many years as an illustrator, then graphic designer, then art director and executive in the publishing industry.
He has studied with Robert Speier, Milton Glaser, William P. Duffy and Jock MacRae. Among the artists who've influenced him most significantly, Will cites Corot for his use of atmospheric perspective, Frank Benson for the energy of his composition and Wolf Kahn, who can find color anywhere.

Greg Martin’s work is distinguished by his use of a view camera, which gives his images extraordinary detail and presence. His large photos in this show dramatically render the changing light at the Jackson Farm in East Fiskhill.
Linda Hubbard's love of the Hudson Valley finds her capturing many of the farms in our area - from Rhinebeck to Stormville...

And Mary Ann Glass always looks for the unsual in our landscape...

"Winds of Change" January 27, - April 27, 2009
Artist Reception - Friday March 27, 5:30 - 7:30pm
#2
Wachovia Securities LLC of Rhinebeck and RiverWinds Gallery of Beacon announce their new show -- "Winds of Change” - at the Wachovia office in Rhinebeck. The show features the lyrical surreal oil paintings of Anita Kusmierska-Gomez in her first show in the Hudson Valley region.
Also showing work are porcelain painter Paola Bari and photographers Mary Ann Glass and Linda T. Hubbard. The artist reception is March 27, 2009, 5:30 – 7:30 on the 2nd floor of Montgomery Row Wachovia offices. The art may be purchased through RiverWinds Gallery, 845-838-2880.

Oil painter Anita Kusmierska-Gomez explains, “My ‘Wind Playing on Strings’ series was inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, as interpreted by Nigel Kennedy. Through his personal interpretation of this so well-known piece of music and his vibrant performance, I could ‘see’ the wind playing on strings.
“I tried to create a link between music and painting that offers to color lovers a chromatic vibration. I am searching for the balance between abstraction and representation that brings dynamics and energy to my paintings. Each painting in the series is a separate musical performance.
“Color is only the visible part of a large invisible electromagnetic energy field that envelops the earth. I try to depict wind because it represents the invisible part of the electromagnetic spectrum: invisible, yet exercising a great influence on us.”

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Anita’s early creativity and interest in art were fostered by private drawing lessons since the age of 6. As a teenager, she was a member of the “ Open Studio for Young” under the direction of Barbara Szubinska. She pursued her interest in oil painting at the Academie von Shone Kunsten in the Hilde van Ovenbergh class in Leuven, Belgium. After she moved to the south of France she participated in open-air art shows and “Trets en Provence” art contest. Her work has been exhibited on places as diverse as the Broderick Gallery in Portland, Oregon and Celbridge, Ireland, and can be found in private collections in Poland, Ireland, U.S. and Japan.
Currently Anita is living and working in Lagrangeville, New York, where she is a member of the Dutchess County Art Association/Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
In addition to her Wind series, she has a breadth of contemporay vision and also paints in the more traditional style.

Also exhibiting in this show is Paola Bari, whose hand-painted porcelain tiles offer another lyrical interpretation of color, sight, sound and sensation centered on the musicality of violins and water.
“Painting on porcelain has always been fascinating for me. The distinct qualities of porcelain, the capacity of transmitting light, the brilliant surface for colors and patterns, the three-dimensional capability have made this medium intriguing and demanding.” says Paola. It is like combining the challenges of painting on canvas and modeling a sculpture where combinations of styles transform ones’ perceptions of a piece of porcelain. The transparency of the porcelain contributes to the elegance of the finished work of art.
#29
Paola paints porcelain and Limoges pieces with overglaze colors and uses European close medium, lusters and precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. Once painted, each piece requires to be fired around 1400-1450 F degrees to make the colors permanent on the china surface. Many pieces need to be fired multiple times, depending on the motif and on the variety of the material used.
Through photography, Linda T. Hubbard captures the powerful effect of wind on water.

And Mary Ann Glass captures the fleeting effect of wind on water with her reeds and water photograph series.. ...
