Maryam’s pottery has rich glaze colors that are warm and earthy, with an organic look. Her stoneware pieces are hand built, slab rolled or wheel thrown. She enjoys mixing her own glazes, making her own custom stamps, and using wax resist patterns. Maryam’s love affair with pottery began in 1998 and has continued to grow with many new designs and glazes.
“When I’m working with clay and glazes all my stress and anxiety evaporate. Art is not the whole answer to the meaning of life, but it is part of it. It helps me express myself on my spirit conscious Journey. The medium of clay offers the perfect workable variety in my creative expression. To me it covers endless ways, through shape and color, to express my interpretation of life in its infinite diversity. Through the texture of the clay, earth tone colors of glazes and oxide stains, flow my transconscious awareness. My muse in playful handbuilt clay projects have no confines because clay is so pliable. From functional pieces to interesting one of a kind pieces, the possibilities are endless. Working with clay helps my Journey balance.” |
